Why I want to Learn Japanese?

I have always been interested in Japanese culture and language. Growing up in Taiwan, I live in an environment heavily influenced by Japanese culture. I've been on many trips to Japan for vacation with my family. I love everything about Japan from its food to its social etiquettes to its many different cultural performances. I want to be able to converse fluently in Japan and enhance my understanding of its culture.

  1. I’m Koki Katsube. I’m from Shiga prefecture. There is Lake Biwa which is the biggest lake in Japan. I’m 19 years old and first grade of international management in Ritsumeikan University. I’m studying accounting and management in order to become a good manager. I would like to run many Japanese restaurants and some companies all over the world in the future. I have been to UBC in Vancouver for 3 months as exchange student but my English skill is not good enough yet. I would like to communicate with non Japanese people. I love sports. I especially like baseball and golf. It’s really fun for me. I’m looking forward to talking with you.

  2. こんにちはかつべさん!わたしはAnnie Liu です。Lake Biwa seems very beautiful. I really hope I will be able to visit it some time in the future. I am also 19 years old but in my second year of college studying psychology and business management. I love going to Japanese restaurants! Do you also love to cook? Your English sounds great to me but I'm sure it will be even better as you get more practice. I am not great at sports but I like watching other people play. I am looking forward to leaving and reading more comments in the future!

  3. Thank you. I really love to cook! I'm especially good at cooking Japanese meals but I'm really busy now because I have to take exam of bookkeeping in November so, I can't cook enough in these days. I live in Kansai area where are lots of sightseeing places. I really reccomend to come to Kansai area not only Tokyo. Please, ask me anything about Japan. I'm looking forward to talking with you next time.

    1. I love to cook too, especially Asian food! I don't like American food as much as Asian food since it tends to be too oily and salty. Good luck on the bookkeeping exam! がんばろう!I have two midterms coming up too. I have a Social Psychology exam on Tuesday and a Japanese exam on Wednesday. I really need to study hard for them. I would love to go to Kansai some day. What are some famous places to visit in Kansai? Does Kansai has its own signature food too? My parents are actually in Japan right now. They're taking a vacation in Karuzawa. I really wish I'm there with them. I miss my parents a lot. I'm meeting up with them at San Francisco during my fall break though. I really look forward to that. Do you live at home with your parents or at a dorm in school? I hope you have a great week :)

    3. You got this! I am sure you will do great! I love seafood too but I think Japan has amazing seafood. My favorite is salmon sashimi. Some of my favorite Asian meals are Thai Pad Thai, Japanese Okonomiyaki, Korean Gimbap, and so many more. I love watching cooking videos on Youtube. You should check this out: https://www.youtube.com/user/runnyrunny999/videos. I usually don't enjoy American meals as much but I like to eat pizza very occasionally. What are your favorite meals? I've been to Kyoto before but it was a long time ago. That's great! Sometimes I wish I live home too.

  4. I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. I want to learn how to make it some time :) I have tried it once when I went to Japan. It is amazing! I once got tricked by my brother into eating a wasabi ice cream that looks like matcha ice cream though.
